Embroidery Inspiration

I have been doing a bit of embroidery these past few days and remembering how much I enjoy it. I started out as a cross-stitcher - always on 14-count aida cloth, but more recently I have been doing some petit-point (half crosses) on evenweave linen. Next I'd like to tackle some simple designs on ordinary linen and cotton, perhaps in a single colour. Here are some photos from flickr that have inspired me lately:

1. Lil Critter, 2. Flowery Smock embroidery, 3. PB080146, 4. embroidery, 5. embroideries, 6. detail, 7. Embroidered flowers, 8. redwork, 9. pillow case 2, 10. owl in trees embroidery, 11. Birdcage, 12. blue trees embroidery, 13. red birds, red tree, 14. leaf sample, 15. Bunny with pink sweet peas

I've been eyeing up embroidery too. I loooove some of those pics. The leaf one at the bottom is particularly gorgeous!

I've been drooling over Agnes Coy's 'made by hand' pillows with the embroidery. BEAUTIFUL. How I would kill for one of those! (Perhaps saving is the better method of acquisition)

Yes I also love her work! I was actually searching on flickr for her because I wanted to include a picture of one of her "trunk purses" in my mosaic - http://www.agnescoy.co.nz/trunk_purse.html

Most honoured that my partridge made the cut!! I so love embroidery...if only there were more hours in the day!

thanks for including my little birdcage. Embroidery is so relaxing because you can use any colour, take the stitching anywhere you like and do what you like. I hate cross stitch, with that xxxxxxxx and only using the colours they list.

I was inspired by your post and made a very shitty attempt at embroidery last night. If I am feeling particularly adventurous I may post a pic, but don't hold your breath! hehe

But thanks anyway for the inspiration :D

I know the embroidery buzz is taking off! I always did the cross stitch thing (which still love) but have been inspired by all the more free style-ish ones. Will be getting my needle thread and fabric soon.Quite in love with the leaf sample!
